Giving birth is one of the most momentous events in your life. It’s the moment that you first meet your child. It’s the beginning of your family. Yet too often, the experience of giving birth is over-taken by the busyness of looking after a baby. The pain is washed away, but so are the good feelings.
Photos of your labour and your newborn baby can connect you with the emotions and experience of giving birth. They are a celebration of the physical and emotional achievement of having a baby. They show the tenderness between babies and their mothers and fathers.
As a mother myself, I understand the physical and emotional demands of labour. When I photograph your birth, I will make sure that you and your partner have time on your own. And I will always respect your medical needs and personal wishes.
The father won’t have to worry about taking pictures himself. Instead, he can focus on looking after you and the baby.
Because of the harsh lighting in hospitals, I take black & white photographs of births. The soft tones also suit the intense emotions of labour.
If you are considering a birth photo session, it is important that we meet beforehand. We’ll need to discuss your wishes and make arrangements with the midwives.

Your photo session will be shaped entirely around your needs. I can take a family portrait or create a photo story about the beginning of your child’s life. You can choose to have your pictures as framed prints, photo albums or wall art.
